How VelocityDate Keeps You Safe: Our Moderation System Explained

Safety isn't a feature. It's the foundation.

When we built VelocityDate, we made one decision early: safety would be built into the architecture, not bolted on as an afterthought. Here's a transparent look at how our moderation system works.

Profile verification

Every profile goes through our verification pipeline before being allowed into events:

  • Email verification - confirmed before account activation
  • Photo review - profile photos are scanned for explicit content and, in flagged cases, reviewed manually
  • Behavioral screening - new accounts with no event history are in a "probationary" state and watched more closely

    • Real-time event moderation

    During live events:

  • A moderator is assigned to every event with 20+ participants
  • The moderator has a force-kick capability to remove any participant mid-session
  • Participants can flag any session as uncomfortable in real time - this sends an immediate alert to the moderator
  • Sessions can be paused or ended by moderators at any time

    • The reporting system

    Any user can report another from their profile page or within a chat conversation. Reports include:

  • Inappropriate behavior
  • Harassment
  • Fake profile
  • Spam
  • Nudity/explicit content
  • Suspected underage user
  • Other

    • What happens after a report:

  • The report is immediately logged and escalated to our Trust & Safety team
  • The reported user's account is flagged for review
  • If 3 or more reports are received against a single user, their account is automatically suspended pending review
  • Our team resolves reports within 1 hour for safety-critical categories

    • Blocking

    You can block any user at any time. When you block someone:

  • They cannot message you
  • They cannot see your profile
  • They will not be placed in the same event session as you
  • The block is silent - they are not notified

    • Data protection

  • Your last name is never shown publicly
  • Your email address is never shared with other users
  • Location data is limited to city (never precise coordinates)
  • Video sessions are never recorded or stored

    • Reporting safety issues

    If you experience harassment or feel unsafe:

  • Use the Report button on any profile
  • Email safety@velocitydate.com for urgent issues
